Steel pipe pile is a type of steel piling material. It is usually referred to the carbon steel pipe manufactured in seamless or welded (SSAW or LSAW), driven vertically into the ground and used as a deep foundation for large buildings and harbour construction including wharves, jetties, as well as bridges and water pipes. Pipe pilings transfer the structural load of the foundation to the soil below.
The standard for steel pipe pile mostly is EN 10025 or ASTM A252. Grades in three levels, Gr 1, Gr 2, and Gr 3. OD ranges from 250 mm (10 inch) to 1500 mm (60 inch), thickness normally from 8 mm to 25 mm.
